Why are Alberta's highway signs changing?

The new signs provide easier to read messages and, more importantly, meet standards common to North America. In today’s fast-paced world, highway safety is always a concern. The new signs will help to reduce roadside clutter and visual pollution as well as provide safe and effective ways for travellers to get to where they are going.
